After leading by double figures in the third term of last week’s game, Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence managed to take control and get on top of Rush.
Hayes said Rush would need to bring its best defensive effort, rebound well and continue a nice spread in offence for the best chance at defeating Launceston at the Minerdome on Sunday.
“Our defence last week was not as good as we would like it to be so we spent a lot of time this week just working on sticking to our structures a bit better,” he said.
“What we did in that first home game I thought was pretty awesome.
“So it’s being able to try and replicate that regularly, just coming out with that intensity and competitive spirit as well as making sure we are working together and backing each other up.”
Hayes said he was not just looking at point contribution from his players, he would also be impressed with strong rebound or assist games.
“A big game in any of those areas will go a long way to helping us out, but obviously points would be handy as well,” the coach said.
The only change to the line-up will be the youngest on the list Georgia Amoore, who is unavailable to play.
As Rush looks to secure its second win of the season, Hayes was eager about getting the fans involved.
“I hope we get a really big welcoming crowd,” he said.
“The girls are playing a really high-energy style of basketball that is good to watch.”
