Wood described the Bendigo East greens as "magic" and said he was "stoked to get as far as playing in the semi-final" in his first state championships appearance.
In doubles, Sebastopol pair Don Louttit and Scott Roberts recorded a thrilling come-from-behind victory in their first game, winning in a play-off end.
In the quarter-final, the duo trailed early in the game but managed to work their way to the front by the 14th end, before losing four shots on the 15th (second last end). Louttit and Roberts could claw back the deficit on the final end, opposing skipper Jeff Reade sinking them late.
Meanwhile, the Webbcona trio of Tony and Aaron Wood and Ben McArthur represented the Central Victoria region but were knocked out by a couple of shots by Colac in the first round.
In the Ladies Championship, the City Oval trio of Kerry Watts, Janine Roberts and Michelle Tait won their first two games but were beaten 13-12 in the semi-final.
While former Ballarat bowler Brett Mahoney lost to Commonwealth Games athlete Barrie Lester in the final of the Men's Champion of Champions.
