The Rebels’ season to date has been riddled with chances, yet they only has one win.
They have led on a number of occasions at three quarter-time and on Sunday it stormed back into the contest to hit the front with six minutes to go against Oakleigh Chargers after Charlie Wilson kicked his third.
A rushed behind gave the Rebels a two-point buffer shortly after. The Chargers then had two gettable chances, one snap taking an eager bounce and escaping a waiting Charger in the goal face before the levelling point just missed, fading in the breeze with 15 seconds remaining.
Coach Marc Greig addressed players, friends and family after the game and said he was pleased with the fightback after trailing for the entire day until the dying minutes, but once again was left frustrated with missed opportunities. Greig said it was important the group continues to work on seizing the moment once in winning positions.
