Held at Victoria Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the trials drew competitors from as far as New Zealand and England.
The weekend’s event was the 11th hosted by the Friends of Ballarat Eventing Association.
“Riders took part in three phases – dressage, show jumping and cross country,” FBEA event secretary Nina Lloyd told The Courier.
“The high level riders are looking to gain selection for this year’s World Equestrian Games and down to the lower levels, they are trying to qualify for Interschool nationals.”
Despite some wet and windy weather, Lloyd said it was a successful three days of competition, with more than 150 former racehorses involved.
