Since 2012, owner Kerrie Gebert has assisted 1,500 animals, many surrendered by bigger animal organisations unable to pay medical costs.
“We have a staffy named Kesha who was having seizures, and we put our hand up to take her on,” she said.
“It took us $12,000 to work out the issue, and most other groups would not have pushed the investigation, but with the right medication she’s happy and healthy.”
The charity will receive a slice of more than $70,000 of pet food destined for Ballarat shelters from Mars Petcare Australia to help them through winter.
“It is absolutely huge, a lot of our funds are focused on our medical costs, so donations like this means we don’t have to think about food,” Ms Gebert said.
