Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Ballarat-Daylesford and Dean-Mollongghip roads in Dean following reports of the crash about 7am.

Paramedics assessed the boy at the scene before taking him to Ballarat Base Hospital with suspected head, hand and hip injuries.

While details remain unclear, it’s believed no other vehicles were involved before the boy’s car lost control and veered off the road.

Police have launched an investigation into circumstances leading up to the crash.
