The former North Ballarat Roosters VFL player is not only making his Ballarat Football League representative debut, he is also getting his first opportunity to play on the MCG.
Lockyer has no doubt the experience will be one to savour in the AFL Victoria Community Championships match-up with the Goulburn Valley league.
He said while BFL players were fortunate to play on surfaces as good as the MCG, nothing compared with playing at the home of football.
Being new to the BFL this year, Lockyer said he was also looking forward to lining up alongside the cream of the competition, including many players he was yet to either play against or see play.
He said many had played at a higher level which put Ballarat in good stead for a quicker game.
