The Million Paws Walk is the RSPCA's biggest fundraiser with more than 15,000 people attending events on Sunday across 16 Victorian sites from Albert Park Lake in Melbourne to Ballarat and Portland.
Ballarat’s event was held at Victoria Park, where people walked their pooches along a five-kilometre track on Sunday morning.
Organiser Jo Black said more than 500 people attended and she was thrilled with the turn out.
“It was brilliant,” she said.
“Everyone was in a great mood, it was a really good atmosphere and the community came together despite the weather, it was great.”
RSPCA Victoria chief executive Liz Walker hoped to raise $550,000 through the annual event.
"Million Paws Walk is a fun way to make a difference to animal welfare," Dr Walker said.
"Whether you are a dog owner or a dog lover, head to Albert Park or one of the many regional Million Paws Walk events to join in this iconic event."
Money raised through ticket sales, merchandise and online fundraising helps to fund the RSPCA’s work in the community, including the care of more than 20,000 animals entering in shelters each year.
