James Kapetanovic was driving the vehicle in Ballarat on November 21, 2017, when he stopped at a red traffic light at a busy intersection.
The 19-year-old did not see police sitting in their vehicle at the same intersection when the light turned green.
Kapetanovic revved the car's engine before leaving the intersection with screeching tyres.
Two police officers saw Kapetanovic speed from the intersection, leaving other cars behind.
He was intercepted shortly after when police discovered he was driving without displaying P-plates.
At the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Thursday, Kapetanovic admitted he used the vehicle improperly.
The hearing was listed for a contested mention but after a brief discussion with his lawyer, he pleaded guilty.
The court was told Kapetanovic had one prior offence for driving a vehicle in a manner which caused it to lose traction.
He had limited criminal history and was currently trying to get a job.
Magistrate John Bentley disqualified Kapetanovic from driving for one month and fined him $400 with conviction.
He ordered him to complete his second $1200 driving safety program, telling Kapetanovic he would top the class this time.
Mr Bentley warned him not to reoffend or his vehicle would be taken and crushed.
He said he knew there was a lot of material out there, including the movie ‘Fast and the Furious’, but it was not the model for how to drive.
A police application to impound the car Kapetanovic was driving was refused, with Mr Bentley taking into account it was his father's car.
