From the days when the wide expanses and empty spaces of Sturt Street were interrupted by the odd tram or pedestrian, to the modern day equivalent of a vibrant city centre, it has been quite the evolution.
So, as we get ready to celebrate Ballarat Heritage Weekend, let’s down a trip down memory lane with a serious of vintage Ballarat photos.

The photos above actually featured as part of White Night Ballarat 2018, projected onto the side of the Eureka House building in Lydiard Street South.
Ballarat’s Luke Parker, who operates Skyline Drone Imaging, sourced all the old images and set out to replicate them with modern snapshots.
The old photos are sourced from old photos by The Courier, as well as State Library Victoria archives.
