Panthers joint coach Ash Manning confirmed on Friday that Fevola preferred making his first appearance for the season in the seconds.
Fevola had Achilles tendon surgery in the off-season and has trained only sparingly.
Manning said Fevola did not want play seniors and then find he was unable to get through the game.
“He doesn’t want to let the team down.”
However, Manning said the club was keen to have Fevola play seniors.
With the Panthers having lost their opening three games, they are desperately in need of a win against North Ballarat City at Mars Stadium.
Manning said there was no question that they needed Fevola back in front of goal.
The 37-year-old is in his second year as Melton South joint coach, kicking 56 goals last season.
Fevola is not the only BFL big name facing a return from injury in the reserves this round.
Darley’s Jake Edwards will also line-up in the curtain-raiser against Redan at Darley on Saturday in his first game since recovering from a strained hamstring.
Edwards was injured against Melton in round two – costing him a place in the BFL representative team.
Jack Bewley becomes the latest Darley youngster to make his senior debut, stepping up from the under-18.5s.
EAST Point will unveil the new Eastern Oval electronic scoreboard as part of its match of the day against Bacchus Marsh on Saturday.
The state-of-the-art board, which has the ability to screen replays and live footage, has been installed in joint project with Optus and Ballarat Cricket Association.
Optus provided $70,585 for the 5mx2m board, which has been incoporated into the framework of the scoreboard.
