Travis Price, the artistic mind behind Hop Temple’s Hop Queen mural, will transform the blank wall with a heritage piece including typography, illustration and some gold flourishes.
“It’s quite representative of the stories from this area, so it’s a little bit heritage, but displayed in a more contemporary way,” he said.
“I’ve been in Ballarat for the last 15 years, so it feels kind of nice to have a bit connected to the community.
“Over time, it will slowly degrade a bit as well, and with the style it is, you’ll slowly see the mortar patterns through the bricks.”
Mr Price said he hopes to have the mural completed in less than a week, weather depending. Preliminary works started on the wall of 44 Main Road on Friday.
