Ballarat Eureka Strikers claimed its first FFV women’s state league two north-west victory away from home for the season, defeating Fitzroy City 3-2.
All five of the match’s goals came in the opening half – Alysha-Grace Reisacher kicking two and Sophie Emota one.
Coach Adam Vranesic said it was good to get a victory on the road on its fourth attempt, but it was far from a complete performance.
“The three points is the main thing, but we made it a little harder for ourselves than we should have,” Vranesic said.
“We lost a little bit of our composure (in the second half).”
Strikers sit fourth on the ladder and Vranesic cited consistent application as the key to climbing the ranks.
“You have to be mentally ready each week to fight for 90 minutes, I think there’s been a couple of games this year where we’ve shown up and not been in that state of mind and I think that’s what’s hurt us.”
