Ballarat high angle rescue crew called to Werribee Gorge

UPDATE 5.45pm: 

A man was flown by helicopter to a Melbourne hospital after a difficult rescue at Werribee Gorge this afternoon.

Emergency services received reports a man in his 50s had fallen while rock climbing near Falcons Lookout shortly after 2pm. 

He was flown to The Alfred Hospital in a stable condition with leg injuries at 4.13pm, after being winched out just after 4pm. 

The Ballarat City fire brigade high angle rescue crew was called to the scene to assist Ambulance Victoria paramedics with the rescue.

EARLIER 3pm: Ballarat firefighters have been called to Werribee Gorge to assist paramedics with a high angle rescue. 

Emergency services received reports a person had fallen while rock climbing near Falcons Lookout shortly after 2.20pm.

Paramedics are assessing a man in his 50s at the scene. 

An air ambulance helicopter has been dispatched. 

Geelong City, Ballan, and Ballarat City fire brigades were called to the scene to assist Ambulance Victoria paramedics with the rescue.
