Miners Rest Kindergarten was one of 10 Ballarat preschools and 219 across the state to receive grants of up to $10,000 from the state government to fund items that promote inclusiveness and diversity.
“A quality kinder program gives children the best start to education and their life, and we want to make sure children that have special needs or disabilities are supported to have that quality kinder experience,” said early childhood education minister Jenny Mikakos.

A dozen of the 85 pupils at Miners Rest have special needs.
“We do have students with special needs and extra support required, so these resources importantly go toward their further development and often those resources can be used by all students as well,” said Miners Rest Kindergarten director Dale Power.
