The Eagles produced a 17 runs to one victory to move a game clear of the third-placed Saints on the ladder.
Alfredton dominated on the road and continue to show its potency with the bat. It boasts the highest run tally for the season – and clearly – with 92 runs from nine rounds while it has the equal-second best defense.
In the A grade, the Mounties and Newport scored a run each across the first two innings, but Newport delivered a strong period through the middle of the match – hitting three, four and three runs across a damaging stretch.
Mounties added two runs in the third innings, but that was all it could muster, going down 11-3. Pitcher Gavin Smith collected three knocks and was influential in offence for his club along with Brad Jones and George Davidson.
