Theatrecraft Young Unlimited drama camp will run from July 1 to 9 in Bendigo but actors from across the state will be involved and there’s a specific call-out for Ballarat actors.
“This program has been running since 2008. We know Ballarat is artsy and there are lots of talented young actors but Ballarat has been a bit under-represented,” said program coordinator Jo Watt.
Actors aged 13 to 21 work with directors before performing The Places You’ll Go to the public just over a week after meeting.
“We are looking for experienced young performers who are really keen to push themselves. This is gritty, contemporary theatre that is quite challenging. It isn’t for the faint-hearted, it’s for kids who are really keen to push their skills.”
Two of the directors for the July camp, Timothy Ryan and Andrew Davies, trained at Federation University’s Arts Academy.
The camp costs $450 and some scholarships are available. For information visit www.theatrecraft.org.au/summer_school.php
