WestVic Hockey trounced Hockey Victoria Men’s League one bottom side Frankston 8-0 on the weekend, moving into the top three in the process.

It was an even spread of goal-scorers for WestVic with Max Ferrier and Zach Lahn scoring two each while Bryce Robinson, Alex Hall, Michael Churcher and Simon Churcher all found the back of the net.
WestVic move into third position on the ladder after fellow top four hopeful Mornington Peninsula and Old Xaverians clashed on the weekend.
WestVic’s goal differential also received a boost, holding a +29 difference – only bettered by ladder leader Kew-Box Hill Brumbies.
The top five teams are 10 points clear of sixth, making it a five-team battle for the top four. WestVic is two points clear of fourth and fifth, one of which is Old Xaverians, which it faces next week. While it is three points off top spot.
Meanwhile, the WestVic women would be proud of its efforts despite losing 2-0.
It went down to undefeated Hockey Victoria Women’s League one top side Powerhouse/St Kilda, taking it up to the ladder leader for large periods of the match.
Powerhouse/St Kilda scored twice in the first half and held that lead until the final whistle.
WestVic takes on La Trobe University at Ballarat Hockey Centre next week.
