The 23-year-old continues to go from strength to strength, running a 3 minutes and 34.82 seconds in the 1500m in Germany to get his hands on yet another Tasmanian record – beating the previous record by four seconds. He now holds state records from 1500m-10km, including steeple chase. It comes a week after McSweyn broke a 40-year state record in the 10km.
The hot form sees McSweyn ranked number 10 on the Australian all-time rankings while he has moved up to eighth on the IAAF world rankings for 2018.
McSweyn finished fifth in the 5000m and then 11th in the 10km at the Commonwealth Games.
He will contest the 3000m in the Rabat meet on July 13.
