Sources said police swooped on a Chisholm Street address in Black Hill last night before apprehending the man about 7pm.
It’s understood the man was allegedly involved in a hit-run crash on Dowling Street, Wendouree, on June 8.
Police previously alleged a driver was travelling in a Holden Commodore when he smashed into a female P-plater’s Toyota Yaris on Dowling Street outside the Minerdome.
Witnesses said the man allegedly ran down the street after the collision, leaving three young children and the woman inside the Commodore.
The woman was arrested at the scene.
The man was taken to Ballarat police station last night and has now been hit with 16 charges, including reckless conduct endangering serious injury, theft of motor vehicle and driving offences.
The charges also include aggravated burglary and assault in relation to an alleged aggravated burglary back on May 20 in Sebastopol.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court today.
More to come.
