The round coincides with Refugee Week as the club underlines its strong support of intercultural participation in regional soccer.
There will be an opening ceremony held at 5.45pm before the team takes to the pitch at 6pm wearing its Diversity jersey which was designed by talented Ballarat City under-20 player and student artist of Togolese/Ghanaian heritage Xagai Douhadji.
Douhadji is extremely proud to be involved in the weekend’s events and to have the honour of designing the jersey.
The young winger, originally from Ghana, gave The Courier an insight into what was behind his design.
“The idea came from everyone (in our multicultural group) putting in and then I went from there. I thought about the symbolism of our culture,” Douhadji said.
“It means to be involved in one culture and getting to know everyone else’s culture.”
