Jordan Bush has been an SES volunteer since August last year.
”I was just myself, it was really humbling and nice to know that people thought that way of me,” Jordan said.
“I’ve never really been involved in community groups, such as sport or things like that so it was a feeling I’ve definitely never experienced before.
“My mum (Kim) and I joined in August last year and we’ve really enjoyed it.
“In future years, I’d love to get involved in emergency management. I’ve found I have a real passion for it.”
Ballarat Unit Controller, Steve Burgess said Jordan was a dedicated and committed volunteer.
“Jordan is one of many VICSES junior volunteers involved in a number of specialised training scenarios and receive nationally-accredited training in general rescue, first aid and occupational health and safety,” Mr Burgess said.
“They also learn skills relating to flood and storm response and community education. It is a great way to get younger members of the community involved and develop their social and technical skills.
“The junior volunteer members demonstrate dedication and commitment, the accreditations and skills they achieve gives them a boost when they enter the workforce later in life.”
