Hepburn coach Segifili Asa Leausa has escaped serious injury from a horror fall during Saturday’s clash at Waubra.

The star defender was left unconscious when his attempt at a towering pack mark went awry in the second quarter of the Central Highlands Football League fixture.
After flying high and dropping the ball, Asa Leausa’s head impacted the ground and he lay motionless on the turf as medical staff raced to his side. Umpires stopped play before he was stretchered from the ground and taken to hospital via ambulance for observation.
The Burras’ premiership captain from last year, who has since taken over as senior coach of the club, was checked for any serious injury and released from hospital later that day.
Asa Leausa said doctors cleared him of any structural damage to his skull or vertebrae and he was back at work on Monday.
He said his recollection of the incident was “fuzzy” and admitted he had experienced a few concussions in recent seasons.
Asa Leausa said he would miss the round 11 clash with Rokewood-Corindhap this coming weekend and then assess his fitness during training the following week.
Hepburn president Jason Dooley was at the ground on Saturday and applauded the efforts of medical staff from both clubs and paramedics in dealing with the situation.
He said it was a great result that Asa Leausa had no major injuries from the incident.
Asa Leausa has been a hit at Hepburn since his arrival from Wonthaggi Power in time for the flag-winning season of 2012.
From there, he has established himself as one of the premier defenders in the competition.
The Burras were eventually beaten by Waubra on Saturday and have slipped two games adrift of the top eight.
Their place in ninth spot on the ladder is a far cry from last year when they sat second after 10 rounds and eventually went on to win the premiership
