The 16-year-old will face a Children’s Court over the alleged incident, in which it is alleged he stole two calves from a property between Heathcote and Shepparton on June 7.
Wernerth is located south-west of Rokewood.
However, police are not aware who actually owns the stock.
Investigators have released images of the sky-blue ear marking tags worn by the calves, in the hope that their owner will recognise them.
“The calves are kindly being cared for until we can reunite them with their owners and we are keen to achieve this as quickly as we can”, Constable Baldwin said.
