As part of the 2018 Ballarat Winter Festival, independent designers and retailers including Three Times Blest and The Farmer’s Wife will sell clothing, accessories and homewares 11am to 4pm.
Lola & May owner Sarah Kirby said the opportunity to showcase comfy clothes and active-wear from Australian brands such as Jaggad and Little Lies, alongside other local stores meant “everything” to her.
“We’re very community-minded, we have a lot of Australian brands, so it’s exciting to be involved and next to those bigger-name local stores,” she said.
“It’s hard to be noticed, especially in Ballarat, because shopping here is so spaced-out. Being a small store and not having that advertising budget … this is great.”
Shoppers are encouraged to bring old coats and blankets with them for the 3BA Christmas in July appeal.
Lizzie Hare from Polly’s Shoes said they hope to host another event in Summer.
“It’s great to get together as a community, because there’s a lot of little boutiques out there that get left behind, so it’s an opportunity for them to get their name out there and show their products,” she said.
