Across the month 82.5 per cent of services on the Ballarat line arrived within six minutes of their scheduled time, an increase of more than five percentage points on May’s 77.4 per cent result. The statewide average was 83.1 per cent.
Despite the increase, the figures are still almost 10 per cent of the company’s stated target of running 92 per cent of services on time.
In a statement V/Line chief executive James Pinder said “there is always room for improvement but it’s good to see better results for the line last month and we want to ensure this continues”.
Among the excuses offered for the delays along the corridor were trains stopping at stations longer than scheduled, as well as train and signal faults. During June 97.6 per cent of scheduled services were delivered, exceeding the 96 per cent target.
