As `Les Bleus’ get set to take the pitch in the World Cup final against Croatia, Ballarat’s French community is set to celebrate its national day in style.

Among those celebrating will be owner of Le-Petit Patissier in Sturt Street Alain Gayral who will have his pastries glowing with pride for his homeland.

Even though Mr Gayral says he is a “fully-fledged Aussie” these days, he will always have a special place for his homeland.

While the World Cup will take centre stage, Ballarat’s French community will also be dancing up a storm at the Bastille Day Ball, which is part of Ballarat’s winter festival.

The Ball which is being run by the Art Gallery of Ballarat at the Mining Exchange will celebrate the gallery’s French exhibition with plenty of drinks and cheese plates to be consumed. 

Also featuring is La Mauvaise Reputation playing jazz and swing throughout the night.
