The ute, which sat near the corner of Gillies Street and Norman Street for five days was deemed by police to not be a hazard, despite some drivers claiming they were forced to swerve around it in thick fog last week.
The City of Ballarat was also called to remove the car, which had police tape on it, but due to the fact it was on a VicRoads road, were unable to move it.
VicRoads removed the car on Tuesday afternoon after it was informed about it.
Acting Regional Director Western Region Wendy Sladen said, “The vehicle in question was reported by one of our surveillance officers on Tuesday and it was removed on the same day."
The authority can remove abandoned vehicles if they are posing a hazard to other road users or causing congestion.
If cars are torched or vandalised, then they are classified as a hazard and similarly towed as soon as possible.
VicRoads encourages people who see abandoned cars to contact police so they can investigate.
