As a specialist arm of Transport for Victoria, Freight Victoria will be charged with delivering the state’s freight plan and acting as a central point of contact between government and the private sector, particularly during major projects.
The ‘Delivering the Goods’ plan sets out a pathway for the state to increase gross product by $40 billion by 2040 through a greater reliance on rail and a boost to interstate freight activity.
In a statement Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said “industry has told us they want better coordination with government on the planning, management and delivery of Victoria’s freight and logistics network”.
