While the Demons led for majority of the tight contest, coach Prue Douglass said the game seesawed throughout with the end result, 46-46.
“It was a well-fought game in very good spirits, Springbank certainly made a late surge, but we just held on for the draw,” Douglass said.
“I like those sort of games where everyone is having a crack, but at the end of it everyone is just enjoying a game of netball too.”
Bungaree, which sits in second, put together a team-oriented effort.
“They worked hard into defence and they also worked maturely into attack,” the coach said. “They made good decisions, looked after the ball and worked hard to get it into the ring safely under a lot of pressure.
“It really, truly was a team effort. We had our mid-courters playing very strongly, our goalers shot well, and defenders really just plugged away and got intercepts.”
Springbank made a few changes late to reinvigorate the team and push the Demons. But, while Bungaree was down on numbers without players Grace and Kathryn O’Dwyer, each team member stepped up.
Bungaree will be missing a few of its players at the end of the regular season due to unavailability, but Douglass hopes to have the full squad together for finals.
“We just need to make sure we keep our heads about it, keep making good decisions and keep our work ethic up.”
