After a competitive start to the South East Australian Basketball League clash at Diamond Valley Recreation Centre, where Ballarat Skoda Rush led late in the opening quarter to be down a point at the first break, the Eagles began to take flight.
Rush coach Eric Hayes said his players had been able to match the skill style of game early.
“The game just got a bit more aggressive and physical and that’s when it kind of got away,” Hayes said. “When the change came, we just didn’t respond to it very well.”
But positives for Hayes were the aggression from up-and-comer Laura Taylor and Joy Burke being able to use her size to rebound well and pull off some impressive offensive opportunities.
Walker got off to a strong start with 10 points, but went off in the second quarter.
