The Ballarat Centre of Music and Arts will present Madagascar Junior on July 28-29.
BCMA driector Paula Heenan said the children aged 6-11 had been learning their roles and songs since February.
“The children all participated in two practice auditions before presenting for the ‘real’ audition in order to be allocated suitable roles, and all of the students who went through this process benefited from the experience of preparing songs and monologues to present in front of a panel of people,” Ms Heenan said.
“Without a doubt, each of the students improved in confidence and ability with each additional audition.
“We have some spectacular singers, dancers and actors at the BCMA so we are very fortunate to be able to present six productions in 2018, giving 114 students the opportunity to present in lead roles and a further 142 the enjoyment and challenges of being on stage.”
