The TrackMan Open is a worldwide competition which provides a unique opportunity to virtually play against the best players in the world and is open to professionals and amateurs.
Professionals will compete for cash prizes, with a total purse of $120,000. While amateurs will have the chance to play-off for a spot at the 2019 PGA Championship Pro-Am event in England.
The TrackMan Open sees 40 events take place around the world in a bid to find the best global shot-maker, Ballarat will host one of the two Australian legs on October 22.
The six-month tournament runs from May 1 to October 31, with an all-female tournament also offered.
The TrackMan concept sees players hit 60 shots from varying distances.
Players play six shots from 60 yards, 70yd, 80yd, 90yd, 100yd, 120yd, 140yd, 160yd, 180yd as well as getting the driver out.
Points are handed out based on the proximity to the hole and distance control and a worldwide leaderboard is formed.
The tournament will be injected into Ballarat Golf Club’s big week in October, which sees it host the PGA National Futures Championship.
Ballarat Golf Club general manager Ashley Bennett was excited to add the event to the club’s calendar.
“We are thrilled to be added to the TrackMan Open schedule being held at some of the most elite golf events in the world, including events on the US, Asia and European Tours,” Bennett said.
