BALLARAT City Brewers, Mounties YC and Alfredton open their Geelong Baseball Association winter seasons tomorrow.Brewers have four teams in A grade, A reserve, B grade and B reserve.Mounties will line up in B grade and B reserve, while Alfredton has been promoted to B grade.The Brewers tackle Werribee at Werribee first up.Ballarat led the table for much of last season, only to falter when it mattered most, and will be challenged without Ross Hipke on the hill and with ace Rory Meddick expected to miss several games.While stalwarts Brett Bennetts and Jamieson Burrows have retired, the Brewers have picked up Stephen Kugele from Bacchus Marsh and regained the services of utility Ashley Hughes, who will be pivotal in a new-look Brewers outfit keen to atone under the management of pitcher and short-stop Adam Irons.Werribee is looking for improvement after disappointing seasons in 2010, although the Giants' focus is primarily on the development of its summer league squad.Boasting four A grade titles since 2005, Lara Wildcats will be aiming to go back-to-back.The competition has been divided into five divisions: A grade (eight teams), A reserve (eight), B grade (eight), B reserve (eight) and C grade (six).Tomorrow's draw:A grade and A reserve: Ballarat Brewers v Werribee (at Werribee).B grade: Ballarat Brewers v Guild (POWP), Mounties v Saints (Pioneer Park), Alfredton v Corio (Stead Park).B reserve: Ballarat Brewers v Guild (POWP), Mounties v Saints (Pioneer Park).
