The Central Highlands Football League has released the following statement on its website.
The Central Highlands FL and its members are shocked at the tragic death of a Dunnstown reserves player today at the Learmonth Oval.
He collapsed at the end of the reserves game and despite the best efforts of club staff and paramedics he was not able to be saved.
The CHFL will work with both clubs and their members over coming weeks to support them through this heartbreaking incident.
There was nothing which occurred within the match which led to the player's collapse.
Out of respect for the players family and the Dunnstown football netball community no further comment will be made from the league at this stage.

What a tragic and harrowing day.
A young man lost his life playing the game he loved. An awful situation.
But the heartbreak his family feels is joined by his bigger family...the footy family .
Dunnstown club officials and trainers moved swiftly to revive the young club player who collapsed at the end of the reserves match.
The defibrillator was called on as officials and trainers took turns giving CPR.
The minutes seemed an eternity waiting for an ambulance. But two emergency paramedics units arrived quickly to take on the crisis.
Dunnstown club officials maintained CPR as paramedics worked to save the young footballer.
After 45 minutes a senior paramedic announced to the crowd they had failed to revive him.
The Dunnstown supporters, players and club officials were devastated. They had kept vigil hoping that the young man would survive.
Tears flowed. Disbelief that a player and friend was gone.
It's a tragedy that is felt by and deeply moves the greater football family.
UPDATE, 4.30pm:
A Dunnstown reserves footballer, aged in his 20s, has died after collapsing at the end of a match at Learmonth Football Ground.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner after the man died at Learmonth Recreation Reserve. The death is not being treated as suspicious. Police have not released a name.
The seniors match, scheduled to be played after the reserves game, was called off.
UPDATE, 3.30pm;
An onlooker at Learmonth Football Ground has said a Dunnstown reserves player came to the bench after the game saying he felt unwell and it seems he then passed out.
Attempts to revive him were made through CPR and a defibrillator. Air ambulance, ambulance and police are all at the scene.
The onlooker said the footy club officials are devastated and a crowd of football spectators are stunned with an eerie silence over the ground.

The Air Ambulance has been called to Learmonth Football Ground after a player on the ground in the Learmonth v Dunnstown reserves match collapsed from an apparent heart attack.
Paramedics and club officials have been working for more than half an hour to revive the Dunnstown player who collapsed at the end of the reserves match.
Learmonth oval is quiet as paramedics and club officials try to revive the stricken player, said one onlooker.
The start of the seniors game has been delayed and looks likely to be called off.
