After a tight opening five minutes, Nunawading managed to establish a nine-point lead before the Ballarat GMHBA Miners closed the gap to five points at the first break.
From there it was a battle where just when the Spectres seemed to have the upper hand, the Miners would chip away at the margin.
A huge second half effort from the visitors resulted in scores level at the end of regular time 94-94 with Miner Nic Pozoglou leading points and rebounds for the game.
But Nunawading capitalised in overtime led by Tom Wright finishing the game with a top score of 37 points.
Pozoglou (30 points and 15 rebounds), who seems to have saved his best for finals, and Josh Fox (23 points and 14 rebounds) both made double doubles.
The Miners have a double chance and will play again next weekend.
