The aspiring writer is in the midst of writing a crime novel for her creative writing elective subject at Ballarat Christian College, and will submit part of the first chapter to Shout.
“It’s a crime novel called Tearing the Tape about a detective who has a particularly hard homicide case to deal with, and it’s just him trying to figure it out but trying to balance work and life … and a little bit in to the life of his team,” she said.
With a passion for true crime, it’s not surprising that her ambition is to be a police detective.
Brooke decided to become part of the Shout program to get her novel out there when it is finished toward the end of the year.
“I want to get some publicity about it to see, if I finish by the end of the year, if I can get it published. I hope some publisher might see it, and I can see where my audience is and who it’s going to be.”
Shout is The Courier’s online portal for secondary students across Ballarat to voice their news and opinions.
