The horse, who like many around the country was celebrating his birthday on Wednesday, is being aimed towards the time-honoured JJ Houlahan Hurdle.
That race is one of the big highlights on the bumper card scheduled for the Ballarat Turf Club on Sunday, August 19.
Bit of a Lad, a five-year-old gelding by Ladoni, has won his last three races over jumps by a total margin of 33 lengths and will run in this Sunday’s Grand National Hurdle at Sandown before heading towards the JJ Houlahan Hurdle.
The Grand National Steeplechase – to be run over the marathon journey of 4500m – is another of the headline events at the upcoming Ballarat meeting, which will include six races over the obstacles.
