The former North Ballarat Rebel and St Patrick’s College student played 207 games after being drafted by the West Coast Eagles at pick 29 in the 2004 national draft.
Rosa made his debut for West Coast in 2005 and played 168 games at the club over an 11-year period.
He was traded to the Gold Coast Suns following the 2015 AFL season. Injuries riddled his four seasons at the club where he added a further 34 games to his career tally.
In a letter announcing his retirement the 31-year-old said his body had told him it could no longer cope with the high demands of playing at the highest level.
“The game has given myself, my family and friends so much enjoyment over the journey and I have been so fortunate to live my childhood dream for 14 years,” he said.
“There are many people I would like to thank for their support through the rollercoaster ride of ups and downs that playing AFL football provides.”
