The school production of The Wedding Singer is heavy on power ballads and 80s nostalgia with comedy flair and killer choreography.
Sixty students from years seven to 12 are involved in the production – 45 on stage and the remainder in the band and backstage roles including lighting, sound and stage manager.
”We feel like we’ve been stuck in the 1980s for a while with lots of shows set in the 80s, but this one is full of wonderful 1980s formal wear because of all the weddings – and who doesn’t love fluffy sleeves,” said co-director Jessica Quick.
The cast watched Bonnie Tyler power ballad music clips to get a feel for the 1980s vibe. Student Emily Paterson, who also plays the lead role of Julia, has choreographed the show.
Students have been rehearsing since February with excitement rising ahead of the performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tickets available through trybooking.com.
