A LUCKY dog will probably think twice before making a leap of faith off a cliff after it got stuck in a blackberry bush alongside the Yarrowee Creek on Wednesday.

The four-legged leaper fell almost eight metres as it tried to escape the clutches of council rangers who were responding to a call of a dog on the loose.
CFA crews were given the delicate task of rescuing the canine after it became so entangled, it could not escape from the bush near Skipton Street in Redan.
It is the third such successful rescue in five days that CFA crews have attended to after dogs fell down mine shafts in Clunes and Blampied.
Ballarat City leading firefighter Bohden Jose said it took the technical rescue team about 20 minutes to retrieve the dog once the high angle rescue equipment was on scene. He said it was a delicate operation to cut the dog loose and get it rescued.
The dog was handed into the care of the council and appeared in good condition despite its ordeal and was last seen enjoying a more comfortable bed than the one it nearly made for itself.
