Lamplight Tours is running every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and every night during the September school holidays and will give visitors a new perspective on the dimly lit streets, cottages and laneways under lamplight.
Led by costumed guides, the tours are being run until the a new-look Blood on the Southern Cross exhibit opens.
Sovereign Hill’s Director of Marketing Jennifer Ganske said the tours will tell the stories of the characters that lived in the goldfields, the illnesses, accidents and deaths that gripped them and also the strange and unexplainable happenings in gold rush Ballarat
“Visitors will be able to see Sovereign Hill in a whole new light as they discover some of the dark, eerie secrets of the men and women who called the goldfields home,” she said.
“We wanted to provide our guests with a unique perspective of Sovereign Hill, after most other visitors have gone home, and the Lamplight Tours are a fantastic way to explore Sovereign Hill after dark.”
The 60 minute tour is $29 for adults, $24 for children with dinner and tour packages also available.
The tour is recommended for people aged 10 and up, but younger children are invited at the discretion of their parents.
