Goals from Amy Johnson and Tayla Mure gave the home side a 2-0 lead at the break before Ashley Blackburn scored a late consolation for the Ballarat girls.
The Strikers remain fourth on the Football Federation Victoria women’s state league two north-west table following the defeat, while the Zebras are still second, two points behind leaders Hoppers Crossing.
Ballarat now has a weekend off for the competition’s catch-up round before hitting the last two games of the campaign.
The Strikers are back at home against Fitzroy City on August 26 before a trip to take on La Trobe University the following Sunday.
