East Point’s Charlotte Hopkins clinched the AFL Goldfields youth under-15 award by three votes after polling in nine rounds to finish the night with 23 votes.
Hopkins had five best on ground performances. She also won the leading goal kicker award after finishing the season with 27 goals – her most was a haul of six in a game against Melton JFNC and also managed three bags of four in the season.
Lake Wendouree’s Tahlia Meier was deemed runner-up with 20 votes and six best on ground performances, three of those in the final rounds of the season.
In the BFL junior under-13 girls competition, the vote count went down to the wire.
Ballarat’s Meg Stowe secured the best and fairest on 18 votes, which was just one vote clear of runner-up East Point’s Keisha Darroch.
Third-placed Isabella Davies from North Ballarat was not far behind either, ending the count on 16 votes.
Coming off dominant home and away seasons, Stowe and Darroch are set to go head to head in a semi final clash on Sunday.
Davies also features in a finals campaign with North.
Leading goal kicker went to Redan’s Bindi Crabtree, who contributed 26 majors.
In the RDFL junior under-13 Girls, Bacchus Marsh’s Tamara Henry took out the best and fairest on 19 votes, three ahead of Melton Centrals’ Katarina Lavanda.
Henry finished the season with 29 goals, ending the season with a haul of six.
She polled in eight matches of the 14 round season.
Gisborne’s Phoebe Prout rounded out the top three ending the night on 15 votes. Prout won the leading goal-kicker award.
Meanwhile, East Point’s Jovie Skewes-Clinton took out the AFL Goldfields girls football rising star award.
Coverdale-Melton’s Tanai Newman was deemed AFL Goldfields under-15 youth girls rookie of the year.
