The 53-year-old woman is charged with recklessly engaging in conduct by administering a Schedule 8 drug, namely morphine, placing a person in danger of death and two charges of negligently causing serious injury by administering morphine to a person to whom it was not prescribed.
The accused is also charged with “introducing a drug of dependence into the body of another person” and also on November 16, 2016, “administering a Schedule 8 poison” to a person other than to whom it was prescribed.
On August 7, 2018, the court heard the woman, who legally cannot be named in order to protect the victim, had been asked “on three occasions” by a medical practitioner if the victim “could have been exposed to any medications other than the usual amount?” and she had replied “No.”
A directions hearing will be held in the Ballarat County Court on August 23, 2018.
