Construction began this month in the grounds of the Mount Helen school, with the $1.3 million project including the refurbishment of an existing building to create an administration/reception area and classroom.
Ballarat architects Here Studio have designed the new spaces that integrate form with function and incorporate the earth characteristics of the school and surrounding landscape.
Member for Buninyong Geoff Howard visited the school to mark the start of the project.
“The school offers a terrific range of experiences to try to maximise the educational opportunities for its students,” Mr Howard said.
“I’m pleased to see this is being further expanded with this new multipurpose hall which will be a great addition to the school, supporting performances and collective activities.”
The project received more than $634,000 from the Victorian government.
