Greater Western Victoria Rebels players Charlie Wilson, Matt Schnerring and Cooper Heard, who all play in TAC Cup competition, are set to return to the squad, but star player Tom Berry will remain on the sidelines due to a season-ending injury.
College coach Brad Macgowan said the two schools had started to develop a rivalry, having previously met in a grand final in 2016.
“It was the same team, same venue,” he said. “In that game we won by around eight to 10 goals, but having said that, we had four players currently playing in the AFL play for us in that side.”
With the opposition boasting some Geelong Falcons players, Macgowan is predicting a close game.
But College will take a lot out of its semi final victory over Lowanna College.
“We played very well in that game in terms of playing with College spirit, we tried to move the ball pretty quickly,” he said. “But we are playing at Deakin University on the new oval there that Geelong Football Club train on, so it’s a good quality oval so we should be able to use the ball pretty well and run.”
Other focuses will be winning the contested ball, maintaining possession and using the ball well.
With College’s impressive grand final history, the players are excited for their moment on the football stage representing their school.
