The Maher family delivered a rare feat on Saturday when the five brothers all pulled on the Springbank jumper for the senior team.

It was the first time the brothers had all played in the one team, adding to what was a great day as the Tigers chalked up a 36-point win over Dunnstown in the Central Highlands Football League elimination final.
The Maher family in ingrained in the Springbank Football Netball Club. The boys’ father played for the club, as well as their mother in netball. While their sister, Sam, currently represents the club’s netball team and there is one more brother coming through the ranks – Ryan, in the under-15s.
Joel Maher, who has enjoyed another stellar season, said it was great to run out alongside his brothers.
While he felt the side’s best players stood up when it mattered most to guide the side to victory.
“The last six or seven weeks, our better players have stood up and got us over the line,” he said.
Springbank will now face Waubra in the first semi-final on Saturday.
Joel said last time the Roos hurt his side on the outside, where Waubra won by 67 points, it would be key to stop that this time around.
“They were too good for us earlier in the year, they were too quick for us on the outside, so if we can shut that down...you never know what can happen.”
