As part of Operation Handball, police observed a car spinning its tyres right in front of their car on Friday night, while they were stationary at a set of traffic lights, according to Ballarat’s Eyewatch police page.
Police said the male driver, who didn’t realise his bout of dangerous driving was being watched by cops, was intercepted with his partner and two-year-old child in the car.
The vehicle has been impounded for 30 days and the driver will receive a summons to attend court at a later date.
A Police media spokeswoman told The Courier Operation Handball was a one-day operation in Ballarat, but would not confirm whether it was specifically targeting hoon driving in the city.
