Six-part Stan series Bloom will set up shop in the town on September 4-6, with Fraser Street used for internal and external shots. The production will tell the story of an idyllic country town which has a mysterious, youth-restoring plant appear after a devastating flood.
Acclaimed film director, John Curran (Tracks, Chappaquiddick) is at the helm of the film, which also stars Phoebe Tonkin, Daniel Henshall and Ryan Corr.
Hepburn Shire councillor Neil Newitt, who lives in Clunes, said the town’s wide main drag gave film crews the space to produce screen magic, with TV shows giving the town an economic boost.
“When there’s publicity around the movie or show filmed here, we do see an increase in people who are just curious and come to check the town out.”
It follows high-profile TV productions filmed in the town including Picnic at Hanging Rock, and the recent Russell Crowe-helmed film The True Story of the Kelly Gang.
Stan Original Series Bloom is funded by Screen Australia and Stan, and produced by Sony Pictures Television’s production company Playmaker.
